Broadband and Cellular Expansion Program

NOHFC support for broadband and cellular expansion projects is intended to address broadband gaps in Northern Ontario by increasing connectivity for unserved or underserved areas.

Funding

The funding provided is in the form of a conditional contribution and will cover the following:

  • Up to 50% of eligible costs, with a maximum of $1 million per project with targeted funding, on average, of $500 per dwelling in the coverage area. In some cases, this amount might be higher if the existing network can’t support the required speeds, but it can’t be used to overbuild existing network infrastructure.
  • Projects that deliver speeds of 50 Mbps or more can receive up to $1,500 per dwelling.
