Q: What supporting documents must be submitted with my film & television application?

The following documents must be submitted with your application. Script or Screenplay Project synopsis Production schedule Signed and dated production budget Projected Northern Ontario expenditures, in the same format as the production budget Copies of applications or commitment letters from all other sources of production financing. Written commitment letter(s) from a distributor or broadcaster Detailed marketing and distribution plan National and international revenue projections Detailed cast and crew list Evidence of a complete and clear chain of title, including a complete description of the production's development history and all 3rd party agreements

Q: Why is a distribution agreement required?

NOHFC must have a reasonable level of comfort that the productions will be successfully completed, delivered and viewed by a wide audience.

Q: How much funding should be in place when my company submits an application to NOHFC?

NOHFC prefers that the majority of the financing is in place or confirmed at the time of application.

Q: Are equipment rentals from outside Northern Ontario eligible?

No. Only rentals from vendors located in Northern Ontario are eligible cost.

Q: My event isn’t tourism-based. Is it still eligible?

NOHFC will consider applications for events that increases the community profile and promotes economic development in Northern Ontario.

Q: How far in advance of my event do I have to submit an application?

NOHFC requires at least 16 weeks to ensure a project can be approved prior to the event. Applications will not be considered for events that have already happened.

Q: Will I be required to submit a proposal and supporting documentation?

No, a detailed proposal is not required. A project officer may request additional information when clarification is required for the project evaluation report.

Q: Are in-kind costs eligible for reimbursement under the Community Events program?

No. NOHFC allows in-kind costs as part of the project for the purpose of determining total project cost. However, these costs are considered ineligible for funding.

Q: Can I request capital funding for my event?

Yes. Capital purchases of equipment and assets are eligible under the program.

Q: Can I apply for operational funding as an eligible cost category?

Yes, operational costs that are directly incurred in delivering the event are eligible. Ongoing operational costs unrelated to the event are not eligible.
