POINTE AU BARIL – The Ontario government is providing $48,645 through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) to the Township of The Archipelago to renovate the Pointe au Baril Community Centre’s meeting room. This investment will modernize critical infrastructure and foster development in the Northeast.
“Enhancements like this are a huge benefit to our communities,” said Graydon Smith, MPP for Parry Sound-Muskoka. “I want to thank the Township of The Archipelago for continuing to provide up-to-date services for their residents. Community centres are vital for keeping people united and this is another way residents in the Pointe au Baril area can keep connected. Thanks also to the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation for recognizing the benefits this project will have to the community.”
The Township of The Archipelago will use NOHFC funding to replace worn and outdated fixtures and furnishings. The project includes installing vinyl flooring and energy efficient lighting, updating the kitchenette, and purchasing new furniture and tableware. When completed, the meeting room will be more accessible, safe and environmentally friendly.

The NOHFC promotes economic prosperity across Northern Ontario by providing financial assistance to projects—big and small, rural and urban—that stimulate growth, job creation and skills development. Since June 2018, the NOHFC has invested more than $762 million in 6,309 projects in Northern Ontario, leveraging more than $2.3 billion in investment and creating or sustaining over 9,750 jobs.
