TIMMINS – The Ontario government is providing more than $3.3 million through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) to seven economic development projects in Timmins. This investment will help enhance municipal infrastructure, facilitate business growth, and stimulate job opportunities in the Northeast.

“Our government is investing another $3.3 million in Timmins to build a stronger future for the next generation,” said George Pirie, MPP for Timmins. “These projects will help local businesses continue to thrive and create jobs for the people in our region. It will also enhance municipal infrastructure that will make our city a more desirable place to live and enjoy.”

The NOHFC is funding the following projects:

• $1 million for co-applicants CJ Equipment Repairs and Northern Equipment Services Inc. to redesign and expand their facility and purchase new equipment
• $390,578 for Con’s Electric Company Ltd. to expand its operations by doing facility renovations, acquiring new equipment and allocating resources to training and information and communications technology

• $664,119 for Corexplore Drilling Services Corp. to expand operations at its Timmins Gold Camp by purchasing drilling equipment, office trailers and building materials and doing facility upgrades
• $400,000 for Custom Concrete Northern to establish a new cement blending facility
• $202,127 for Porcupine Ski Runners – the community’s only cross-country ski club – to purchase a trail groomer and tools to maintain well-groomed and safe trails
• $123,225 for Spruce Needles Inc. to upgrade its irrigation pump system and electrical infrastructure to maintain good turf conditions and golf course operations
• $19,254 for Dr. Kayla Cyr to setup a medical clinic specializing in orthopedic surgery for foot disorders and ankle trauma to address the need for these services in the region.

The NOHFC promotes economic growth, job creation, and workforce development across the North in communities large and small, rural and urban, including Indigenous communities. Since June 2018, the NOHFC has invested more than $790 million in 6,464 projects in Northern Ontario, leveraging more than $2.3 billion in investment and creating or sustaining over 9,930 jobs.
