Ontario Supporting Business and Economic Development in Sudbury

SUDBURY – The Ontario government is providing more than $2 million through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) to seven economic development projects in the City of Greater Sudbury. This investment will improve municipal infrastructure, expand company operations, support innovation and create good jobs in Northeastern Ontario.

“The seven investments we are recognizing today demonstrate the opportunities we are creating for local businesses through our modernized and tailored NOHFC programming,” said Greg Rickford, Minister of Northern Development. “Whether it’s supporting transformative technologies in the skilled trades or providing businesses the certainty they need to expand offerings in the North, our government is proud to be a trusted partner.”

The NOHFC is funding the following projects:

  • $500,000 for CircuitIQ Inc. to develop its automated electrical panel power mapping and inspection tool that will help property owners ensure compliance with electrical safety regulations and reduce the risk of electrical accidents
  • $400,000 for Beamish Construction Inc. to purchase new equipment and market its new microsurfacing division
  • $400,000 for Bross Mobile Mechanic Service to renovate its facility and purchase equipment to expand its product and service offerings
  • $353,659 for B.S.K. Machine Shop to purchase equipment to increase production capacity
  • $201,700 for YES Theatre to replace outdated equipment, install a digital marquee and renovate the lounge and concession area
  • $97,720 for Lauren Perry Interior Design Corp. to establish an interior design firm
  • $72,000 for Orix Geoscience Inc. to purchase equipment to expand its service offerings.

The NOHFC fosters economic growth, job creation and workforce development throughout the North, benefiting communities of all sizes, both rural and urban, including Indigenous communities. Since June 2018, the NOHFC has invested more than $841 million in 6,894 projects in Northern Ontario, leveraging more than $2.5 billion in investment and creating or sustaining over 10,560 jobs.
